Why signing Hirving Lozano could be a great move by Arsenal

According to a report by Sky Sports, Arsenal are interested in signing PSV Eindhoven winger Hirving Lozano this summer. The youngster sizzled for Mexico in the ongoing World Cup in Russia and that has only led to greater speculation about his future.

Mexico could only make it till the Round of 16 but Chucky’s performances were quite impressive, to say the least. And with new manager Unai Emery at the helm, the Gunners might just land him in the ongoing transfer window.

Lozano is an immensely potent attacker and he is a true-blue winger. He is constantly on the prowl and his eye for the goal certainly serves him well. His work ethic, however, truly sets him apart from his contemporaries. Despite being just 22 years of age, Lozano attacks like a dream but he can also track back and support the defence.

In fact, he is great at doing the dirty work as well, which can make him an asset to Arsenal. During his World Cup exploits, the youngster chipped in with a goal against Germany and provided an assist against South Korea.

In the Eredivisie last season, Lozano scored 19 goals and provided 8 assists. And now, his World Cup performances have only risen his stock further.

However, since he is quite young, it goes without saying that there are rough edges that need to be smoothened out. For example, Lozano needs to work on his ball retention skills. More often not, he can give away possession quite cheaply and he must improve that if he joins Arsenal this summer.

That said, it is something he can improve on with time and is certainly not a deal-breaker. In fact, wrapping up a deal for Lozano would be a major statement of intent from Emery.

The Arsenal boss has been quite busy in the transfer window so far but a deal for Chucky could prove to be the club’s marquee signing this summer. But, given the circumstances, it must be noted that the player will not come cheap and Arsenal must dig deep to shell out a transfer fee.

For starters, Lozano is under contract with PSV Eindhoven until 2023 and the Dutch giants will certainly not let one of their most prized assets leave for free. Also, his excellent performances in the World Cup will only increase his stock.

That said, Lozano is a star for the future and he could work wonders in an attack-oriented club like Arsenal. Now, it remains to be seen if the Londoners are able to shell out the required money to sign him.
