Two players Stoke City should sign on loan before the transfer window closes
Stoke City have made one of the worst possible starts to their Championship campaign, mustering just 2 points in three games. The Potters are yet to claim their first win of the season and that should be worrisome for manager Gary Rowett. The pressure is starting to mount and the manager must deliver sooner rather than later.
The Potters made a couple of signings and loan moves to bolster their squad in the summer but they still don’t look complete in terms of depth and quality. Lucky for them, Championship clubs are still allowed to make loan moves until the end of the month, allowing each team a total of 8.
Stoke have enough time to complete a few more signings before the window shuts till January. Stoke’s season already looks derailed but there’s still enough time for salvation.
Here, we take a look at two players Rowett must target before the window ends.
Sandro Ramirez (Everton)
The Spaniard made the move to Merseyside from Malaga just last year but has failed to make the mark at the club. After scoring 14 goals in 30 appearances for the Spanish outfit, the 23-year-old was unable to pick up a single Premier League goal in 8 appearances. He was loaned out to Sevilla for the rest of the season and has returned to the squad for Marco Silva’s reign.
But with the likes of Cenk Tosun, Theo Walcott, Oumar Niasse and Richarlison around, it’s clear that the Spaniard is quite below the pecking order. A move to Stoke City would see him receive added game time and a chance to revitalize his career.
Ramirez is a clinical striker and possesses all the qualities to flourish at Stoke. Saido Berahino has failed to work wonders so far and Stoke needed some cutting-edge in the final third.
Jordan Ibe (AFC Bournemouth)
With Ryan Fraser now set for a regular role in the team and impressing in the first two games, Jordan Ibe could see less game time. An explosive winger and skilled footballer, Ibe would provide the Potters with some much-needed energy and bite in the final third.
A loan move for the former Liverpool man would definitely strengthen Rowett’s offensive department. Ibe is a devastating man to come up against and links up well with his teammates. Ibe can play in a wide number of roles and systems as well, thus making him an ideal choice for the Potters.
