Juventus and Argentina playmaker Paulo Dybala is potentially a front-runner to replace Eden Hazard if Chelsea sell him. With the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo in Turin, Dybala will probably be offloaded by Max Allegri.
Real Madrid are preparing a £150m bid for Hazard and Chelsea might have to sell him, despite their claims that suggest otherwise. Hence, the Blues will need a playmaker to replace him, and Dybala seems to be a perfect fit.
The Argentine has the required qualities to excel under new manager Maurizio Sarri, which will help him resurrect his career after a somewhat stalling season in Italy.
Here’s all the information about the player and how he will tactically fit in at Chelsea.
Blessed with a magical left-foot and an acute eye for the goal, Dybala is one of the best playmakers to grace the footballing world. He has the elegance, authority and sorcery required to open up a defence in a flash. The Argentine’s striking ability from close-range free-kicks is close to unbelievable as well.
The 24-year-old scored 22 goals and supplied 5 assists in 33 appearances (7 from the bench) last season, which are sumptuous numbers for a player deployed behind a striker. Furthermore, his dribbling skills, at a rate of 2.8 per game, enables him to drive past defenders and open up space for a shot or a through ball.
In Sarri’s high-pressing 4-3-3 system, Dybala can be deployed as one of the support strikers. Preferably, the Argentine should be deployed as a No. 10 but if needed, he can play on the right side of the front three, tucked inwards to remain close to the striker. However, Dybala must improve his work rate when not in possession of the ball.
Dybala is a technically-gifted player with attributes of the highest order. With that in mind, Chelsea must target him if Hazard does leave Stamford Bridge this summer. The Argentine can mesmerize the Premier League with his trickery and ball-control, adding a much-needed edge to the Chelsea attack. By doing so, Dybala could perhaps turn them into contenders for the Premier League title again.
