Three ideal Premier League destinations for Juventus attacker Gonzalo Higuain

Juventus are reportedly open to the prospect of selling Gonzalo Higuain this summer. After snapping up a splendid deal for Cristiano Ronaldo, the Serie A champions are set to offload the Argentine attacker.

The former Real Madrid star’s presence will eat away Higuain’s time on the field and he must look for opportunities elsewhere. Also, this will be a good opportunity for Juventus to regain some of the funds they spent to sign Ronaldo.

Now, a player of Higuain’s calibre can work wonders for any team he is a part of. Armed with priceless experience and a wide array of attacking and goalscoring skills, the 30-year-old still has a lot to offer. And given his power, suffice to say that he won’t face a shortage of suitors. With that in mind, here are three ideal Premier League destinations for the powerhouse attacker this summer.

Manchester United

Manchester United often looked dead while attacking last season. Despite having a plethora of attackers, Jose Mourinho’s men endured a lacklustre campaign as they finished as runner-ups. Romelu Lukaku’s acquisition did help bolster their attack to a certain extent as the towering Belgian bossed the final third to make an impact.

However, there was a sense of over-reliance on the striker as the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial struggled to lead the line.

Hence, a move for Higuain makes sense. Since Zlatan Ibrahimovic parted ways with the Red Devils, United have lacked the presence of a powerful yet experienced striker. And Higuain certainly ticks all those boxes, making him an ideal fit.

Chelsea

To be fair, Chelsea need a player like Higuain more than Manchester United do. The Blues finished out of the Champions League spots last season as they failed to replicate the magic of Antonio Conte’s debut season. They could not defend the Premier League trophy and it is evident that Chelsea need reinforcements in a lot of areas.

However, Alvaro Morata was one of their most disappointing players and it is clear that they need a solid new striker. And who better than Higuain to shore up their front line? He might be 30 years of age but his performances have been far more exciting and effective than Morata’s, making it imperative for Chelsea to pursue a deal.

Tottenham Hotspur

Now, Tottenham Hotspur might be the most unconventional choice out of the lot. After all, Daniel Levy is known for his strict budget and Juve will certainly not let Higuain leave without commanding a hefty price.

Nevertheless, Spurs invested in signing Davinson Sanchez last summer and what a player he has proven to be. That should convince Levy to loosen his purse strings and bring Higuain to White Hart Lane. Harry Kane is an excellent player but he cannot lead the line by himself – not if Tottenham are serious about winning trophies, at least. Thus, Spurs should definitely consider signing Higuain this summer.
