3 players on loan this January who are out of contract in the summer

With the January transfer window done and dusted, several Premier League clubs have seen their players leaving on loan rather than bringing in reinforcements.

Teams like Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham and Norwich City have sent most of the youngsters to the lower leagues in search of game time. Liverpool failed to accommodate young prospect Rhian Brewster and as a result, he has been shipped out to Swansea City for the rest of the season.

However, at the same time, certain senior players have also joined other sides on loan.

Let’s take a look at 3 players out on loan for the rest of the season with their contracts set to expire in the summer.

Cedric Soares

The Portuguese, 28, came through the ranks of Sporting CP’s youth system and lifted the Portuguese Cup with the team in 2015 before joining Southampton that summer. During his time at the St. Mary’s Stadium, he has made 138 appearances for the club, scoring three goals while providing 11 assists.

Cedric was a mainstay on the right side of the Saints’ defence and featured regularly for them. But despite having six months left on his contract, he joined Arsenal on loan for until the end of this season, according to the Guardian.

While it is a huge boost for Arsenal, who have dealt with a lot of injuries in their squad especially with Hector Bellerin, the Saints have lost an experienced player.

Danny Rose

Newcastle United sealed a loan move for Danny Rose as he became the third player to join the club this winter after Nabil Bentaleb and Valentino Lazaro, according to BBC.

The 29-year-old has Englishman failed to perform well over the last few seasons but this loan move could help him revive his career.

Both Magpies’ left-backs Paul Dummett and Jetro Willems are injured and therefore, Rose must grab this opportunity and prove his worth.

Andy King

King, 31, has been at the King Power Stadium since 2004 and was an integral member of the Foxes’ rise to the top. A key part of Leicester City’s promotion to the top-flight at the end of the 2013/ 14 season, he also lifted the Premier League title two campaigns later.

However, since then, he has been on loan with several clubs in England and also with Rangers in Scotland.
