The NCAA Board of Directors and selection group make sure that every hopeful NCAA team undergoes a careful selection or seeding process to make sure they get qualified. Earlier this week, the top sixteen teams representing all regional conferences from the West, South, East, and Midwest areas respectively were already named.

One of the teams that emerged as the toughest contender to compete in the this March is the San Diego State Aztecs. This team had shown stellar performance in the past NCAA games. And, we’re yet to know if they can still showcase the same performance this year.

Still, sports analysts think that SDSU Aztecs has a bigger chance of winning the 2020 March Madness title. Here are the reasons why.

San Diego State Aztec’s Profile

San Diego State Aztecs is a bona fide basketball representative of the San Diego State University. The SDS Aztecs have been playing since 1921, and the team has successfully played 5 NIT Tournaments, 12 NCAA Division 1 Appearance, 6 NAIA Playoffs, and 3 NCAA Division 2 Matches.

This season, the SDS Aztecs have been topping the seeding process, and major sports platforms were considering them as a tough team to beat in the 2020 March Madness. In fact, they appeared in the NCAA Tournament last 2018, and they are hoping to vye an epic comeback this year.

So, here are the major reasons why the SDS Aztecs are in good shape to bag  the NCAA crown this season.

They Are Undefeated

The SDS Aztecs have played in the Mountain West Conference since then. This year, the team remained undefeated in the said region, tallying a total record of 23 wins and no losses. The Aztecs were the last undefeated team that currently tops the seeding for the West Conference.

Looking into the game statistics of the SDS Aztecs, they are scoring 74.5 per game. Aside from that, their shooting percentage is at 46%. Going to the three-point shooting division, they also accomplished 37%. Moreover, their rebounds are around 36.2 per game. All of which are stellar statistics that make them a team to reckon in this year’s NCAA season.

They Have a Well-Experienced March Madness Coach

Brian Dutcher is the head coach of the San Diego State University Aztecs for the third time. Dutcher is a no March Madness stranger, and he knows well the nitty-gritty of this season.

His first time to work with the Aztecs was in the 2017-2018 season where he sent the team to the West Conference Championship battle. This year, Dutcher is taking the Aztecs to a whole different level. According to him, he had been sending the team to tough training every day and studying the strategies of their opponents to catch up very well.

They Got Malachi Flynn

Malachi Flynn is the current Point Guard of the San Diego State Aztecs. He joined the team last year and exhibited good performance in the playoffs. This is his second year playing for the Aztecs, and he is looking forward to showcasing more of his talents in the upcoming NCAA competition.

Here are Malachi Flynn’s complete statistics:

      Rebounds – 3.7 per game

Scoring – 16.5 points per game

Assists – 5.0 points per game

      Efficiency Rating – 27.6

      3-Point Shooting – 39.1%

      2-Point Shooting – 44.9%

Win Shares – 5.4 per game

Looking into Flynn’s West Conference plating records, he is one of the players to watch out for this year. He can be a tough challenge to all his opponents, and his shooting is also precise. When he gets into the three-point line field, he can shoot with only a few misses. If Flynn can improve and perform well during the 2020 March Madness, then the SDS Aztecs might make it in the National Championship round.
