Why Leicester City should go all out to sign Bradley Dack in January
An earlier report from The Sun had claimed that Blackburn Rovers midfielder Bradley Dack was linked with a move to Leicester City after an impressive season in the League One. The Foxes were considering a £10million bid to land the midfielder in the summer but the club later decided to hold back till January to make a move (h/t The Sun).
Dack started his professional career with Gillingham in 2012 and impressed in the League One and the League Two, before moving to Blackburn in 2017 for a fee of £750,000. The 24-year-old had a stellar run in the League One in 2017, scoring 18 goals and helping Blackburn earn promotion to the Championship. The attacking midfielder has already hit the ground running in the second-tier competition this season and has registered 4 goals and an assist from the first six games.
Leicester City have made a lukewarm start to their Premier League campaign and the Foxes currently sit 9th with nine points from their first six games. To be honest, they haven’t been bad but there is plenty of room for improvement and Claude Puel should be eyeing for a Europa League qualification spot at the very least.
Leicester got back to winning ways with an impressive 3-1 victory over Huddersfield Town at King Power Stadium last weekend. Pairing Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho have paid the dividends up front as the Foxes destroyed the visitors.
James Maddison has been their find of the season so far and the youngster has repaid the manager’s faith in him with some amazing contributions in the final third. He has established himself as the chief playmaker and has successfully crafted some amazing moves. The 21-year-old already has three goals and an assist to his name and he looks good for many more.
In Nampalys Mendy, Adrien Silva, Wilfred Ndidi and Daniel Amartey, Leicester have quite a few defensive midfielders in their ranks but Maddison is the only creative midfielder on their side. Given that he is still young, he might find it difficult to cope with the demanding nature and the tiring schedule of the Premier League as the season wears on. Furthermore, it is not a bad idea to have another playmaker in the team – someone who has the ability to change the game even after coming on as a substitute.
And Leicester could add another creative midfielder by signing Bradley Dack in January. The 24-year-old is currently at the top of his game and the winter window would be the ideal time for the Foxes to make a move.
Dack has a brilliant technique which allows him to receive the ball with minimal errors and lets him run comfortably with the ball at his feet. Operating as the playmaker behind the striker, Dack can link the play with his flawless passing. He also has the presence of mind and the vision to pick out the runs of the other attackers.

Dack’s passing skills make him such a valuable player but he also brings in a lot of physicality to the final third. A complete package of strength and skills, Dack can weave his way past the defenders through narrow spaces and outmuscle his marker with ease to create that extra yard of space. A truly two-footed player, Dack is adept at passing and dribbling with both feet. To add to his repertoire of skills, he is a clinical finisher as well.
Hence, Leicester should not hesitate to sign the 24-year-old in January, as he could help the Foxes achieve success on all fronts.
