5 talking points from this week’s WWE Raw
Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley ended the night fighting it out as their rivalry grew further ahead of Backlash.
However, this week’s WWE Raw had a lot to talk about. The IIconics beat up Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross and there was a fun segment again between the Viking Raiders and the Street Profits.
There was one big name missing from the show on this week’s episode, and that is where we start.
1) Big star missing
A triple threat match was set to find out who Asuka would face and defend her title against. However, one big name was missing as Shayna Baszler wasn’t involved in this.
Natalya, Charlotte and Nia Jax took part in this clash, but Baszler should have been involved. She has been a destructive force since coming onto Raw, but for some reason, she was missing.
2) No Charlotte is good news
Thankfully, it was Jax who won the triple threat match and not Charlotte. The NXT Champion was involved in this clash for some reason, and it would have been crazy for her to win it too.
Charlotte has been seen too many times on SmackDown and Raw since winning the NXT crown. She is the NXT Champion and despite being one of the greatest talents ever, she should remain on NXT more than wrestling on other brands.
3) El Idolo on a downwards slope?
The surprising result of the night was seeing Crews picking up the US title from Andrade. El Idolo has been excellent since becoming the US Champion but this loss was a shock.
Losing the title at a PPV makes sense but on Raw? That’s a little weird. There have been rumours going around that Andrade’s lack of English is a problem for some in WWE, and it would be horrible if that was the reason for him to lose to Crews.
Andrade has a perfect manager in Zelina Vega, and she can do a lot of work on the microphone, similar to what Paul Heyman has done with Brock Lesnar.
4) Rollins continues to spread darkness
Seth Rollins has found another member for his stable, Austin Theory, but the Monday night Messiah still has a dark aura around him.
He attacked Humberto Carrillo after tonight’s show and warned Aleister Black to stay away. Rollins also has called for a retirement show for Rey Mysterio next week, and he seems to have taken up his role extremely well on Raw.
5) McIntyre always wants a fight
WWE Champion McIntyre doesn’t back down from a fight. Unlike champions who pick and choose when to attack, McIntyre is willing to go out and show his dominance.
The Scot attacked MVP and dared Lashley to come early on the night. He then came out to make the save for the Street Profits in the main event and even took a spear for his troubles.
McIntyre doesn’t need to go out all the time, but he does, which is a refreshing change from the time we had Lesnar as a champion.
