Tucker 48
Tucker 48 was a top-tier vehicle in 1948. The car had unprecedented features and technology. Tucker 48 featured a 5.5L flat-6 engine which produced 165 horsepower. The advanced features like pop-out windshield, cyclops headlight, and drumbrakes made this popular. It was priced over $2500 and people were not ready to buy it at an exorbitant price. The Tucker 48 was not commercially successful because of its pricing and legal issues, but it has now become an iconic car.
Mercury Eight Coupe
Mercury Eight cars were available in three generations and these were the most customized cars at that time. The second-generation Mercury Eight cars were launched between 1941 to 1948. It is hailed as one of the classic vehicles of Mercury. The vehicle’s designs include long body lines and wide grille. It was available as coupes, convertibles, station wagons, and sedans. The performance was improved by 239 cu in (3.9 L) Flathead V8 engines and 3-speed manual transmissions.
Ford Deluxe Coupe
The 2-door coupe was in production till 1941. It was built with the Flathead V8 engine which facilitated its handling. The Ford Deluxe Coupe featured hydraulic brakes, bench seats, and advanced suspension. It clocked a top speed of 75 mph, but the vehicle’s durability made it classic over the years. The biggest plus for the Ford Deluxe Coupe is its powerful engine which also increased its sales. Ford Deluxe Coupe featured in hot rod shows. It is available in auctions and collector markets.
Lincoln Continental Coupe
The Lincoln Continental Coupes in the 40s featured Flathead V12 engines which enhanced its performance. The vehicle was designed with premium leather seats. Tatra 87
Not many are aware of the Tatra 87 cars. The Tatra 87 was built using 2.9 L air-cooled V8 engines which resulted in a top speed of 99 mph. It was made using aluminium. Tatra 87 was a fuel efficient vehicle. It was equipped with independent suspension, swing axles, central backbone chassis, and rear-mounted engine. The air-cooled engine was not regular in the 40s.
