According to a recent report by Leicester Mercury, King Power Stadium-based football club Leicester City are said to be in the market for a new winger in the summer transfer window and one of the names being linked with a potential move is Crystal Palace star, Andros Townsend.
The Englishman has been one of the Eagles’ most influential players this season and he even scored some spectacular goals along the way.
It is being suggested that Brendan Rodgers is on the lookout for a pacy winger who is just as capable of going wide and delivering as he is of cutting inside in taking the shot on.
Townsend is the man being linked with this move as he’s been a symbol of consistency since joining the Eagles from Newcastle United in 2016.
Although the Englishman still has two full years left on his current contract with Palace, the possibility of challenging for Europe next season at the King Power Stadium could prove to be far too much for the youngster to pass up on.
The Spurs academy product was never really given a proper opportunity at Tottenham but whenever he was, he certainly didn’t produce the goods that warranted keeping him in the side.
A few years down the line and his progress has been excellent. After making a multitude of loan moves to some of the country’s smaller clubs, he was sold to Newcastle in January 2016 before re-sold to Palace just a few months later.
Townsend has been one of their star players this season as he’s stepped up to the plate on more than one occasion.
An excellent dribbler of the ball, Townsend’s ability to carry the ball forward for his team even under pressure from directions makes him a massive prospect for any aspiring Premier League clubs.
As was clear to see from the magical goal he scored against Manchester City this season, his ability to strike the ball from distance needn’t be questioned either.
