Harry Maguire’s career has been on an upward trajectory over the last couple of years. Ever since he joined Leicester City from Hull City for a fee of £17m, the talented Englishman has seen an upsurge in his form and fortunes.
After an excellent campaign with the Foxes last season, Maguire starred for England as the Three Lions reached the semi-finals of the recently concluded World Cup in Russia. As a result, he drew interest from Premier League giants Manchester United but the move did not materialize (h/t BBC).
He has made a good start to the new campaign as well and Leicester have pulled off an incredible move by tying him down to a bumper new contract. As per BBC, the new deal will keep him at King Power Stadium for the next five years.
And according to The Mirror, the centre-back has doubled his wage bracket and will now earn a staggering £80,000-a-week. As a result, Leicester have effectively killed off the hopes of any potential suitors.
Over the years, the Foxes have turned their fortunes around in the Premier League and going forward, Maguire can certainly fuel their hopes of higher ambitions.
Since their fairytale campaign that saw them pick up the Premier League title, Leicester have an immensely strong team now. And the 25-year-old is certainly a key aspect of their squad. He is defensively sound but at the same time, he often chips in with important contributions in the opposition’s half.
As per WhoScored, Maguire has scored one goal and has won two headers in four Premier League games so far. In addition, the powerful defender has also chipped in with an average of 1.8 tackles, 0.3 interceptions and a whopping 7.3 clearances per game.
He has started all four games for the Foxes this season and stayed on the pitch for the entire duration. The Foxes have made a decent start to the new term but Maguire could make a world of difference for them in the months to come.

Hence, Leicester have certainly done a great job by offering Maguire a new contract. As far as other clubs are concerned, they must start looking for options elsewhere!
