Liverpool Opinion: Maxwel Cornet has the traits to excel in England 

According to a recent report by Metro, Liverpool are being linked with a potential summer move for Lyon’s Ivorian international star Maxwel Cornet, as Jurgen Klopp looks to further strengthen his team for next season in order to challenge for the league title. The youngster has also come out and stated that he is extremely flattered by the rumoured interest.

Despite Manchester City’s apparent league dominance, the Reds were able to give them a run for their money this season and with a few minor adjustments, Liverpool will be able to shed some light on just how good this group of players actually is.

They pushed City to the very limit though and even managed to get ahead of the eventual Champions on the table at one stage. 

Despite this, Liverpool have found themselves a place in final of the Champions League.

With Tottenham their opponents on the night, this Liverpool side will be able to add their names into the history books by securing the European title for the first time since Steven Gerrard lifted the trophy all those years ago. 

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were the key protagonists in their race to the European final and without all the goals that the duo scored, the Reds would be nowhere close to the top of the table.

Both players finished the season on 22 goals and even had to share the Premier League golden boot award between themselves and Arsenal’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. 

While this is the case, their lack of depth in the forward positions is a worrying idea indeed. While Divock Origi has been Klopp’s go-to man on the bench this season, the lack of quality in the dugout could hurt them in the long run.

An injury to one of their key players could leave the side in a tight spot and that’s why a forward signing must be made a priority in the summer. 

Liverpool don’t have the concept of an out-and-out striker in the team, meaning any player who’s capable of playing on the flanks would thrive in Jurgen Klopp’s complicated system.

Maxwel Cornet is a pacy winger, who generally operates down the right flank. His dribbling and movement are unparalleled and he possesses almost inhuman speed when running at defenders.
