According to Daily Mail, Norwich City have completed the signing of young winger Przemyslaw Placheta on a four-year deal.
Norwich had earlier been confirmed of their relegation from the Premier League just one season after earning promotion from the Championship. The Canaries lost all their games since the restart of football and are currently in the rock-bottom of the league rankings.
Despite the relegation, Norwich is preparing for life back in the Championship and have added Polish winger Placheta to bolster their squad next season. The 22-year-old has arrived at Carrow Road following an excellent season with Polish side Slask Wroclaw.
Placheta scored eight goals and provided five assists from 35 league games in his maiden season with Wroclaw, forcing the Canaries to bring him to England. The Poland U-21 international has also had a spell with Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig earlier in his career.
Meanwhile, one of the main reasons for Norwich’s dismal show in the league has been their lack of sharpness in attack. They have managed a mere 26 goals from their 37 league matches, giving a clear idea of the side’s lack of goal-scoring attackers.
Except for veteran forward Teemu Pukki, none of the other attackers within the side have even touched double-digit figures for goals scored in the league. Though Pukki (11 goals) started the season with the bang, he eventually underwent a dip in form which ultimately affected the side’s performances.
Onel Hernandez has been far from impressive, while Emiliano Buendia hasn’t been able to score a lot of goals, in spite of impressing with his all-round play.
Apart from Hernandez and Buendia, Norwich currently have newcomer Daniel Sinani and academy graduate Josh Martin. Sinani had joined the Canaries back in April but is yet to feature for them while Martin has featured just four times for them.
Sinani had earned his move to England following an excellent season with Luxembourg top division side F91 Dudelange. However, only time can tell what is in store for the young winger.
Martin, on the other hand, is still young and has a lot more to develop in his game. That said, Norwich’s decision to rope in an established and young winger like Placheta seems like a step in the right direction. Having proved his potential in his first-ever season at Wroclaw, Placheta can at least add strength to the Norwich attack and help them make a swift return to the top flight.
First of all, Norwich’s lack of established wingers have been evident from their relegation back to the Championship this season. Thus, the arrival of a proven customer such as Placheta will only add strength to their squad next season. Moreover, he will also offer boss Daniel Farke plenty of options in attack and help them mark a return to the Premier League.
