Why Daniel Arzani could be a key player for Celtic this season
As per The Guardian, Daniel Arzani has completed his £1.5million transfer from Australian A-League side Melbourne City to Premier League champions Manchester City. The City Football Group owns both clubs and the report further states that the teenager will be immediately loaned out to Scottish giants Celtic to continue his development.
In Glasgow, the 19-year-old will receive the opportunity to link up with compatriot Tom Rogic, which should help the wonder kid settle down fast.
To successfully compete in all competitions, Brendan Rodgers will need to rotate his side from time-to-time and keep his players fresh. This could provide Arzani with numerous chances to impress. As things stand, Celtic have endured a dreadful start to their campaign so far.
Following their shock defeat against Hearts of Midlothian, the club have crashed out of the Champions League after losing to AEK Athens. It might be too early to raise an eyebrow but for the rest of the term, Celtic could benefit from an explosive attack-oriented attacking midfielder.
Having played street football and futsal from a young age, the versatile Daniel Arzani can play on either flank and can also slot in behind Odsonne Edouard. Composed while attacking and intelligent with his decision-making, Arzani scored twice and provided three assists in 22 appearances A-League appearances for Melbourne City in his breakout season.
He won the Harry Kewell medal for the best U23 player in Australia, which resulted in a call-up to the World Cup squad as well. Incredibly, Arzani made his international debut a fortnight before the tournament in Russia got underway. He replaced Mathew Leckie in the 84th minute in a friendly against the Czech Republic on 1st June 2018.
The fleet-footed midfielder is a good dribbler. Often known for playing out on the flanks, he relies more on trickery and awareness to break down defences. Arzani has a penchant for challenging defenders to get the ball from him while either beating them or teeing up teammates in advanced positions.
When playing on the left flank, he often cuts inside. The youngster then shoots off his dominant right foot, either supplying an incisive pass into the final third or delivering a cross to a teammate. In recent times, City youngsters have travelled down the M74 for loan spells in Glasgow.
This time, Odsonne could benefit from Arzani’s work in the middle of the park. If the Frenchman can convert the chances created, Arzani will be vital for the Hoops.
The 19-year-old has impressive movement off the ball as well. He usually works hard to break the line, while offering width and running into channels. His willingness to sacrifice individual moments for the team could be an asset in Parkhead this season. Despite his small build, Celtic fans must look forward to his excellent footwork and trickery.

Playing under a manager like Rodgers – and being surrounded by quality players – Arzani is only likely to get better. He could prove to be a key player for Celtic in their push to defend the treble won last season. Thus, the Bhoys must complete a loan deal as soon as possible, before the Scottish transfer window slams shut.
