The New Day ended as Raw got a part of the faction in a shocking episode of SmackDown
The 2020 WWE Draft was always going to be a major talking point on this week’s SmackDown and it centred around the New Day.
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods returned to accompany Big E. The returning pair also won the SmackDown tag team titles but were split up.
E remained on SmackDown while Kingston and Woods moved to Raw. This was a shocking moment on this week’s show but there were a few misses to go along with it.
Sasha Banks and Bayley met for the SmackDown Women’s title and this was a chance for Banks to get the title back and importantly, destroy her former best friend.
It was a surprise why WWE set up this fight as it should have been at a PPV and the ending was the disappointing bit.
A DQ finish is never a good idea and even though Banks and Bayley used chairs on each other, they could have just fought normally without the title on the line.
It was weird seeing Matt Riddle team up with Jeff Hardy to take on the Miz and John Morrison. WWE has a habit of creating random teams and this was another one of them.
However, the real reason was the returning Lars Sullivan, who promptly destroyed all four after the match.
This actually made no sense. WWE wanted to make Sullivan look great but why destroy four stars for someone who had a tepid reaction the first time he came?
Seth Rollins coming to SmackDown was a great move as the Messiah could have fought Roman Reigns for the title.
However, WWE cannot let things be as they brought the Mysterios to the Blue Brand too. You know what this means though, WWE will continue with this crazy rivalry between the trio and possibly Aalyah Mysterio also.
Murphy should be waiting in the wings to join the Blue brand next.
There was little doubt that The Fiend would not lose to Kevin Owens, but the manner of victory was great.
The Fiend didn’t see any of KO’s attacks and looked to be like the original Kane. Meeting up with Alexa Bliss at the end was also a nod to the pair linking up for good on SmackDown.
Owens will want another bite at the Fiend and it will be interesting to see what is next for them.
2) A new dawn for the New Day
This was a bittersweet moment but it is a positive given how many will be talking about it. Splitting the New Day ensures that Big E can continue his singles push but this is the end of the faction.
Hopefully, WWE make the right decisions for E and his teammates on both brands. It is a new day, yes it is, but all things come to an end on WWE and so did this incredible faction.
