“A sign of weakness” – Lewis Hamilton takes shot at Max Verstappen over ‘God’ comments

Max Verstappen had claimed that Lewis Hamilton wasn’t a ‘God’ on the track, something the champion didn’t take too kindly to

Lewis Hamilton shot back at Max Verstappen regarding some of the comments made by the Dutch racer recently.

Hamilton was speaking at the launch of Mercedes’ 2020 F1 car and was asked about Verstappen claiming that the Brit wasn’t a ‘God’ on the racetrack.

Verstappen had admitted that Hamilton was good but went on to say that God could be with the Brit racer.

However, Hamilton didn’t take these comments lightly and had a slight attack at the 22-year-old Verstappen (h/t Express):

“I find it funny seeing that.

“I have always known to just do my talking on the track.

“Often I tend to see that as a sign of weakness so…”

Hamilton doesn’t see Verstappen as a threat

The British star hasn’t really faced a lot of competition since Nico Rosberg left and was asked who his rival could be next season.

Although Verstappen and Charles Leclerc have made a lot of noises about trying to catch Mercedes, Hamilton pointed out that his teammate could provide him with a real test.

“I imagine this dude [points to Bottas]. This is a difficult battle for us.

Verstappen finished a distant third in the driver’s championship last season, but he beat the two Ferrari cars.

The Dutch racer also recently claimed that he wanted to be closer to the Mercedes cars and it will be interesting to see how things go with him in the first race.

Red Bull have Honda engines, which aren’t as powerful as the Mercedes ones. However, that could change in 2021 when new regulations are ushered in.

Red Bull were brilliant before Mercedes started dominating and with Verstappen signing a new deal recently, he could take the Austrian team to greater heights from 2021.

There should be some great battles once the season starts in Australia, and hopefully, it is a closer championship fight than we had last year.
