A wasted moment for Kairi Sane – 2 hits and 4 misses from WWE Raw 27 July 2020

Published by

This was the final episode for Kairi Sane before she left WWE and the promotion didn’t cover itself in a lot of glory

WWE Raw was setting up for SummerSlam and had a couple of huge title matches on the show.

However, there was also a departure and new rivalries being created. Nevertheless, Raw did have some solid moments but made a meal out of many segments too.

Misses

1) Jax vs Baszler

Nia Jax vs Shayna Baszler sees two of the toughest and biggest women in WWE go head-to-head. While this should be an awesome rivalry, the set up wasn’t all that great.

We all know that Jax and Baszler can destroy groups easily, and they did that on Raw. However, something else should have been done like maybe Baszler attacking Jax to show off her supremacy.

They are both heels but certainly one could have ignited the feud with a proper brawl.

2) Ali destroyed

Mustafa Ali became the victim of WWE’s 50/50 booking again as he was destroyed by Bobby Lashley.

Ali joined Raw last week and got the win in a tag team match. However, apart from a couple of good hits, he was taken out by the All Mighty.

WWE don’t seem to know what to do with Ali and the rest, and hopefully, this brawl against the Hurt Business helps the trio of Ali, Ricochet and Cedric Alexander and doesn’t hurt their growth in WWE.

3) A poor send off for Sane

Kairi Sane seems to have had her last appearance in WWE as she posted several messages on social media about her departure.

Sane was one of the hottest talents on NXT and WWE messed up with her on the main brands. This was a chance for them to give her a proper send off but they put her into the storyline which cost Asuka the title.

This isn’t the first or last time WWE do this to a leaving star but certainly Sane deserved a better sending off.

4) The stipulation

Drew McIntyre faced off against Dolph Ziggler and defended his WWE title too. The advantage was with McIntyre as he could choose the stipulation against Ziggler. While the champ tried to keep Ziggler guessing to what crazy stipulation he might choose, the Scot went with an Extreme Rules one.

This certainly fell flat as McIntyre could have really turned the screw on a rival. While the Scot tries to show he is a fighting champion, he should have taken advantage of this situation.

McIntyre won in the end but it could have been an exciting match.

Hits

1) Garza and Andrade get their shot

Andrade and Angel Garza will face the Street Profits for the Raw Tag Team titles. The pair have had their problems in the past but worked well to get a win in a triple-threat tag match.

Garza and Andrade are two of the best workers in WWE and it seemed they were destined for great things. However, WWE messed things up by teasing that they would split up after a lot of tension.

Things seem to be working fine for them now, and it is difficult to say that they won’t be champions in the future.

2) The Viper is here

McIntyre had spoken in the past of fighting Randy Orton and cementing his title legacy. While Orton was battling with Edge and other legends, he finally declared that he was coming for McIntyre’s title.

This is an incredible chance for both stars to shine. McIntyre is the face while Orton has been doing his best heel work in years.

Orton also handing McIntyre and RKO helps to spice up the rivalry, and this should see some incredible segments leading up to SummerSlam 2020.
