Adam Pearce almost battled Roman Reigns at a PPV
WWE official Adam Pearce is prepared to reverse his retirement if he is booked for a match against Roman Reigns.
Pearce, 42, announced his retirement in 2014 after an 18-year career as an in-ring competitor. In a WWE storyline earlier this year, Roman Reigns faced Pearce at the 2021 Royal Rumble. He was eventually replaced in the match by Kevin Owens.
The Universal Champion Reigns continuously clashed with WWE Official Adam Pearce on SmackDown. In the build up to the Royal Rumble, Pearce even became the No.1 contender to face Reigns.
‘Pearce earned’ that title match in the first place by ‘pinning’ Shinsuke Nakamura. He was also manhandled by The Tribal Chief and attacked by Jey Uso on numerous occasions.
“I was happy to be a part of it. Roman and I have certain chemistry on camera, he’s really taken to this mob boss mentality and does it so well.” ( h/t GiveMeSport )
“You can’t teach on-screen chemistry, I think he and I have enough of a personal relationship that the conversations always felt real.”
Adam Pearce also shared some huge praise for Roman Reigns, calling him the ‘top echelon’ of the sports entertainment industry. He also was open to the idea of having a match with the ex- Shield member in the future.
While Pearce performs as an authority figure on WWE television, he also has an important backstage role in the company. In April 2021, he began a new position as WWE’s director of live events.
Roman Reigns recently defeated Cesaro at WrestleMania Backlash to retain his Universal Championship. With Hell in a Cell set to take place on June 20, it is currently unclear who the SmackDown star will face at the event.
The Tribal Chief, since capturing the Universal Championship title, has defended it more than 10 occasions. None of the other superstars of the company have come close to dethroning him.
