In-form Benjamin Bonzi locks horns with American talent Maxime Cressy in the round of 32 of the Adelaide International 2 on Tuesday.
The Frenchman began the new season on a great note. He made it to the finals of a tournament on the ATP Tour for the first time in his career at the recently-concluded Tata Maharashtra Open.
Bonzi defeated the likes of Jaume Munar, Marco Cecchinato, and Aslan Karatsev before going down to Tallon Griekspoor in the final. Bonzi, who is 26 years old, will look to continue with the good form in the Adelaide International 2 as well. At the 2022 edition of the Adelaide International 2, Bonzi lost to Tommy Paul in the round of 16.
The 25-year-old Maxime Cressy began the year on a disappointing note as he crashed out in the round of 32 of the Adelaide International 1.
The 25-year-old faced Australia’s Thanasi Kokkinakis in the round of 32. The match was closely contested but Kokkinakis managed to hold his nerves and win both sets after exhibiting a lot of grit and determination. In the doubles event, Cressy teamed with Albano Olivetti and lost in the round of 16 of the tournament.
Benjamin Bonzi and Maxime Cressy have never faced each other so far. Therefore head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0 as we wait to see who gets on the board first.
