10th seed Danielle Collins takes on Jil Teichmann in the round of 16 of the Adelaide International 2 on Wednesday.
Danielle Collins
The 2022 Australian Open runner-up, Danielle Collins, did not have a great start to 2023. She played in the Adelaide International 1 and was ousted in the round of 32 by 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
In the Adelaide International 2, Collins got the better of Karolina Pliskova in a one-sided contest that ended in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. The American star won 68 points in the match compared to just 51 by her opponent. She will look to get a few more wins under her belt ahead of the first major of the year.
Jil Teichmann
The 25-year-old is playing in her second tournament in 2022. She participated in the inaugural United Cup prior to this tournament.
Teichmann had to get through the qualifiers to make an appearance in the main draw. She defeated Olivia Tjandramulia and Amanda Anisimova to make it into the main draw. Teichmann faced Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the round of 32. The match was quite competitive but the Swiss star eventually emerged victorious in straight sets 7-5, 6-4.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 1-1. Collins won their most recent encounter in the 2021 Canadian Open in three sets.
Prediction: Danielle Collins to win in three sets.
