The 2022 Australian Open runner-up, Danielle Collins, did not have a great start to 2023. She played in the Adelaide International 1 and was ousted in the round of 32 by 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.

In the Adelaide International 2, Collins got the better of Karolina Pliskova in a one-sided contest that ended in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. The 25-year-old is playing in her second tournament in 2022. She participated in the inaugural United Cup prior to this tournament.
