Two young and talented players, Emil Ruusuvuori and Mikael Ymer are all set to play their second event of the season. They face each other in round 32 of the Adelaide International 2 on Tuesday.
The youngster from Finland began the new season by traveling to India to play in the Maharashtra Open. He was seeded third in the competition but his campaign did not turn out to be great.
The 23-year-old received a bye into the round of 16. He faced eventual runner-up Benjamin Bonzi of France and lost in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 (7-4). In the doubles event, Ruusuvuori teamed with Diego Hidalgo and lost in the round of 16 to Henry Patten and Julian Cash. The Finnish No. 1 will look to get his first win of the season when he faces Ymer in Adelaide.
The Swedish player started the season at the Adelaide International 1. His journey ended in the round of 32, as he went down to Russia’s Roman Safiullin in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
Ymer had to get through a couple of qualifying matches before getting to the main draw. In the first qualifying encounter, Ymer defeated Nikoloz Basilashvili after the latter retired during the second set owing to injury. In the second qualifying match, Ymer got the better of Jordan Thompson after winning two competitive sets 7-6, 7-5.
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 2-1 in favor of the Finnish star. Ymer, however, won their most recent encounter in straight sets in the 2022 Citi Open in the round of 16.
Prediction: Sebastian Korda to win in straight sets.
