Australia’s Jason Kubler faces sixth seed Miomir Kecmanovic in the round of 16 of the Adelaide International 2 on Wednesday.
Jason Kubler
The 29-year-old defeated two veterans at the 2023 United Cup. He got past Daniel Evans in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 after going down 0-5 in the second set. Kubler went on to beat Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
He continued with his good form in the Adelaide International 2 as he defeated Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the round of 32. The match was decided in two competitive sets as the Aussie star won 7-6 (7-2), 7-5. He fired in 10 aces in the contest. Kubler will look to keep the good run of results going.
Miomir Kecmanovic
The 23-year-old began the new season by playing in the Adelaide International 1. He defeated Christopher O’Connell in the round of 32. However, in the round of 16, he was convincingly beaten by third seed and eventual semifinalist Daniil Medvedev.
Kecmanovic began the Adelaide International 2 event with a solid performance against Kyle Edmund. The world No. 28 defeated Edmund in straight sets 6-4, 7-5. Kecmanovic will be the favorite going into the match against Kubler as the favorite. The Serbian star is way ahead in terms of the rankings. However, Kubler’s recent form will make this match intriguing to watch.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0 on the ATP Tour. However, they have faced each other once on the Challenger circuit. In the Challenger event in Vicenza in 2018, Kecmanovic defeated Kubler in three sets.
Prediction: Miomir Kecmanovic to win in three sets.
