2nd-seeded team of Marcelo Arevalo and Jean-Julien Rojer will take on the 3rd-seeded team of Austin Krajicek and Ivan Dodig in the finals of the Adelaide International 2 on Saturday.
Austin Krajicek and Ivan Dodig
Krajicek and Dodig ended 2022 on a disappointing note as they lost all three of their group-stage matches at the ATP Finals. They have managed to start 2023 on a strong note with a fine performance in the Adelaide International 2.
The American-Croatian duo began the campaign with a come-from-behind win against the team of John Peers and Andreas Mies. Krajicek and Dodig made light work of their quarter-final opponents David Vega Hernandez and Rafael Matos, winning the match in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. In the semis, Dodig and Krajicek defeated the top-seeded team of Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski in straight sets 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).
Marcelo Arevalo & Jean-Julien Rojer
Arevalo and Rojer were also ousted in the group stage of the ATP Finals. They did not have a great start to 2023 as they lost to Tomislav Brkic and Gonzalo Escobar in the round of 16 of the Adelaide International 1.
In the round of 16 of the Adelaide International 2, Arevalo and Rojer comprehensively defeated Ramkumar Ramanathan and Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Arevalo and Rojer got the better of the Colombian duo of Robert Farah and Juan Sebastian Cabal in three sets 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 10-4. Arevalo and Rojer were scheduled to face Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Heliovaara in the semis. However, Glasspool and Heliovaara pulled out of the tournament prior to the match.
Prediction: Austin Krajicek and Ivan Dodig to win in three sets.
