The WWE AEW Rumor Roundup for July 1, 2022, includes Sasha Banks’s WWE status, Kenny Omega’s comeback struggles and more!
These are all the latest rumor roundup in pro-wrestling, which are currently afloat. So let’s look at the rumor roundup from WWE and AEW.
Some recent reports state that Sasha Banks is still listed on internal WWE rosters. However, Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc stood by his statement and said she had been released. These rumors are mainly that leadership is trying to smooth things over with Banks.
Giri also said that Sasha’s release was finalized on June 10 and was handled by Erika Schreiber, VP of Business and Legal Affairs for Talent Relations, “Not John Laurinaitis, who usually holds those.
I deleted the original tweet since there was some confusion. To clarify, I heard Sasha Banks. She was released on June 10th. The release came from the VP of Business and Legal Affairs for Talent Relations and NOT John Laurinaitis, who usually handles those.
As for why WWE has not said anything or removed her, the rumor is that leadership is trying to smooth things over
Kenny Omega has been working through a long list of injuries during his 2020-2021 Belt Collector run through AEW, Impact & AAA. But after dropping the AEW World title to Hangman Page at Full Gear last November, he took some time off mainly to deal with the injuries.
He was first shooting for a February return to the ring but quickly shifted to no timetable. Omega is said to be recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery. The rehab window is displayed to be ten weeks. Kenny also still needs an operation to repair his sports hernia, which will require two months to recover.
Recently on his CEO Gaming Twitch stream, Omega talked about how challenging his rehabilitation has been,
He said he’s “done” if he suffers “another major setback.”
It’s unclear whether Omega was talking about a setback in this recovery or a future injury. He goes on to talk about focusing on storytelling instead of athleticism, so some have interpreted he meant he’d be “done” with his current style, not wrestling altogether.
It has been said that there is a drop off in ticket sales for Forbidden Door, and it has been a hot topic f4wonline’s The Board.
Dave Meltzer commented that,
“$4 get-in price on the secondary market. Lowest in AEW history. Less than 200 tickets were sold once TV started promoting the card,”
He later continued saying, “the story of a show with huge demand that then died in late interest [in] a manner no show in history ever has.”
This week’s Monday Night RAW celebrated 20 years of John Cena’s debut. After a long time, he returned to WWE TV, and the promotion aired several video packages.
Several AEW stars Bryan Danielson (aka Daniel Bryan) and Paul Wright ( aka The Big Show), also appeared on this week’s RAW to congratulate the 20th anniversary of WWE.
Current All Elite Wrestling Stars Bryan Danielson and Paul Wright, known as Daniel Bryan and The Big Show during their time in WWE, were also featured in the package to honour The Cenation. Both congratulated Cena, having worked with the 16-time world champion several times.
According to Fightful Select AEW, President Tony Khan permitted AEW stars like Chris Jericho & Bryan Danielson to record messages for John Cena and for WWE to show those on RAW.
