WWE and AEW Rumor Roundup for March 4, 2022, including Cody back to AEW, WWE tried to buy ROH, Elias and more!
These are all the latest rumor roundup in pro-wrestling, which are currently afloat. So let’s have a look at all the rumor roundups from WWE and AEW.
According to Cassidy Haynes of BodySlam.net, Cody Rhodes’s discussion with WWE have been “fizzled out” another source has even indicated that there is hope that Cody can be brought back into the AEW.
This idea has been floated since there is a possibility that he might be offered a new role involving ROH acquisition.
According to PW Insider, WWE was interested in purchasing ROH when the promotion announced its hiatus late last year. In December, the two parties had some talks, but that didn’t end in a deal.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer has also said Triple H tried to convince Vince McMahon to buy ROH in early 2018, but McMahon wanted to “buy somebody bigger“. WWE tried to buy NJPW, Stardom, NOAH and AAA, but they weren’t willing to pay the right price to make it happen.
Tony Khan, the president of AEW, finally brought ROH. He announced this on the March 2 episode of Dynamite.
AEW superstar Darby Allin to star in a WarnerMedia reality show titled Darby’s Day Off. According to Fightful, Darby has been shooting content for the reality show involving death-defying stunts.
WarnerMedia has plans for the partnership to go beyond television as there have been talks of additional reality shows comprising other AEW wrestlers.
“We have an opportunity to use all facets of WarnerMedia in a way that most places can’t. We’ve got a comic book company. We’ve got video game companies. We’ve got merchandising people. We’ve got people who make animation for television. We’ve got reality television producers. It’s all in house. So we have a real opportunity to spread this IP and grow it across WarnerMedia.
WWE has no current plans for Elias. He was recently called for main-roster. In December, it was earlier reported that Elias was spotted backstage with a clean shave and shorter hair. He never returned to television, but he is still on the roster.
According to Ringside News, Elias is currently in a “creative purgatory” right now. His name isn’t coming up at all. Some sources have told that,
“I don’t remember the last time his name came up. It’s been so long.” That being said, they aren’t even batting around ideas about Elias at this point.
