AEW Dynamite Results and Grades 17 June 2020: Which teams will battle for the tag titles at Fyter Fest?

AEW Dynamite Results and Grades: The major story revolving around this Dynamite was the fate of the tag team titles.

Four top teams were in contention to face off at Fyter Fest, and the tag titles were also on the line.

Jungle Boy lost his shot at the TNT title (AEW)

Cody Rhodes put up his TNT title also up in an open challenge, but we start this week’s AEW Dynamite results and grades piece with some tag action.

Tag titles on the line

Kenny Omega and Adam Page aren’t a traditional tag team, but they are fun. They were up against Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall.

All four men had some great moves in the clash but it were the champs who sealed their spot at Fyter Fest.

Grade B

This was a great tag match to showcase how much quality all four men have. The tag champs were always going to reach Fyter Fest, but they were made to work for it.

Anna Jay returns

Abadon faced off against the returning Anna Jay, but it was Abadon that picked up a dominant win. The Dark Order came out to help Jay back while Colt Cabana was again invited, it seems to the stable.

Grade B

There wasn’t much happening in terms of wrestling. However, the Dark Order seem to be recruiting a female now and it only seems like a matter of time before Cabana joins too.

MJF vs Billy Gunn

MJF tried to squirm out of the match several times but Gunn wasn’t allowing that. Wardlow then got involved during the latter stages with Gunn’s son, Austin, and the distraction helped MJF beat Billy with his ring.

Grade B

Gunn did a great job in the ring even though age wasn’t on his side. MJF winning like a heel was also great and the heels were attacked by Marko Stunt, Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy continued their rivalry.

TNT Championship match

Arn Anderson introduced Cody’s challenger for the title with former NWA champion Ricky Starks coming on.

Starks put on a great show but it was Cody who picked up the win and kept his belt.

Grade B

The TNT Championship might be Cody’s to keep for now, but all his rivals have done extremely well in recent weeks.

Starks was also excellent and it will be interesting to see if he does move to AEW for good.

Young Bucks vs Superbad Squad

Kip Sabian and Jimmy Havoc were in action against the Young Bucks as they tried to build momentum.

The Superbad pair took on everything that the Bucks threw at them. However, they couldn’t stay with the experienced pair and lost out.

Grade A

This match was near-perfect as a tag match and reminded us of how great the Bucks are. FTR and Butcher and Blade came out as a brawl broke out, but it were the Bucks and FTR who remained standing.

#1 contender’s match

Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara faced off against Chuck Taylor and Trent. The Best Friends attacked Jericho and Guevara right from the start. However, Jericho and Guevara used their heel tactics to gain an upper hand.

A cameraman then tripped up Guevara which helped Trent to pick up the win.

Grade A

The cameraman was revealed to be Orange Cassidy, who was attacked by Jericho last week, and that was great.

Best Friends facing Page and Omega should be great, and Cassidy will face off against Jericho at Fyter Fest.

AEW Dynamite TV viewership and ratings

AEW, once again, got a point over NXT in the Wednesday Night Wars. Dynamite brought in an average of 772,000 viewers on TNT.

NXT, for their part, got in 746,000 viewers over the course of the show, according to Showbuzz Daily.

While NXT lost out to AEW, it still was a decent growth for both promotions when compared to their TV viewership figures from the previous week.
