AEW Dynamite Results and Grades: There was a lot of action planned for this week’s Dynamite.
All the stars were preparing for AEW Fyter Fest with most of the titles on the line. There was a lumberjack match between two of the biggest stars on the roster too.
And that’s where we start off with this AEW Dynamite results and grades piece.
The lumberjacks initially weren’t interested in dealing with either behemoth when they left the ring.
However, Wardlow used a low blow to pick up a win over Saurus. MJF and Wardlow clashed against Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus.
A match is then confirmed between the four at Fyter Fest.
Wardlow beats Luchasaurus
Grade B
A tag match between the four should be interesting, especially with MJF being involved in all this. The match was decent too as Wardlow impressed again.
AEW confirmed that the women’s champion would be in action. Hikaru Shida was up against Red Velvet.
Penelope Ford, the no.1 contender for the title, was watching by ring-side. Shida picked up an easy win but a lot of words were exchanged with Ford.
Shida beats Velvet
Grade B
Shida and Ford also clashed after the match, and AEW did a decent job of hyping up the rivalry before the pair meet at Fyter Fest.
AEW cut to a press conference where Arn Anderson and Cody Rhodes first spoke out. Cody defends his TNT title against Jake Hager, and the challenger arrived with his wife.
However, Hager’s wife caused a fight to break out during the press conference.
Grade B
AEW did a decent enough job to highlight the rivalry between Cody and Hager. However, it just didn’t click like it should have.
Lee and Cabana paired up to face Joey Janela and Sonny Kiss. Cabana and Lee worked well as a pair and after Lee hit Janela with the discus lariat, he allowed Cabana to hit the pint for the win.
Cabana and Lee beat Janela and Kiss
Grade B
The Lee and Cabana partnership looked good, and it seems it is only a matter of time before Cabana joins up with the Dark Order for good.
Lance Archer attacked Kiss and Janela after the match, and even a chair hit didn’t affect him.
Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler (FTR) took on Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian (SCU). This pit four of the most experienced stars on AEW. It was supposed to be FTR vs QT Marshall and Dustin Rhodes, but Marshall was not on show as he had come in contact with someone with Covid-19.
FTR and SCU served a brilliant match with FTR picking up the win. Hardwood then called out the Young Bucks while Butcher and Blade took over FTR’s truck and wanted an eight-man tag match at Fyter Fest.
FTR beats SCU
Grade A
The Lucha Brothers confirmed their return during this segment, and attacked FTR before the Young Bucks came out to save them. Lucha, Butcher and Blade seem to be teaming up for Fyter Fest, and it will be interesting to see how FTR and the Bucks do.
Brian Cage faced off against Jon Cruz and made light work of his rival. Taz then sent out a message to Jon Moxley, who was also missing after coming in contact with someone having Covid-19.
Cage’s manager sent out a warning to Moxley ahead of the title fight at the upcoming PPV.
Cage beats Cruz
Grade B
This was a near-perfect segment with Taz being the star with the mic. However, it will be interesting to see if Moxley can return in time for Fyter Fest.
After a fan vote, it was Broken Matt Hardy who came out to face Santana. Ortiz was present to help Santana and even almost cost Hardy the match.
However, the Broken One defeated Santana, but was attacked by the Inner Circle members. Private Party came in and made the save.
Hardy beats Santana
Grade B
The match was alright, and it seems the rivalry between Hardy and the Inner Circle isn’t over.
Chris Jericho mocked Orange Cassidy ahead of their meeting at Fyter Fest. They brawled with Cassidy being busted open, but he barely cared about it.
Freshly Squeezed then threw Jericho onto a table to close out the segment, despite a bloodied shirt.
Grade A
This match could be one of the hits of the year as Jericho can make anyone look great in the ring. Cassidy is a great act on his own, however, him against Jericho could be a hugely entertaining clash.
