AEW Dynamite Results and Grades: AEW hit the ball out off the park with Double or Nothing, and this week’s show had a lot to live up to.
Mike Tyson was the talking point at the PPV, and Iron Mike was the subject of one section again.
There were several surprise appearances on the show too, and here are the results and grades of this week’s AEW Dynamite.
Matt Hardy and the Young Bucks teamed up to face Joey Janela and Private Party.
It was the team of Hardy and the Bucks won the match but the Bucks were ambushed by the Butcher and Blade.
However, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler (Wilder and Dawson from WWE), arrived in a pick-up and saved the Bucks before a stand off.
Hardy and The Bucks win
Grade A
The match was decent enough but the arrival of the former WWE stars was something big. That picked up the grade and it will be interesting to see how they fit in AEW.
Jon Moxley was on commentary duty as he scouted his rival for Fyter Fest. Brian Cage came out to face Lee Johnson and defeated him easily with the Drill Claw.
Taz cut a promo praising his talent, Cage, but warned Moxley ahead of the fight.
Cage beats Johnson
Grade A
Cage looks like a dangerous monster and it will be interesting to see how he does against Moxley. The AEW Champion has been great since picking up the title, but this could be his biggest test.
Britt Baker was in a wheel chair and brought to the ring by Rebel. The pair pulled out a list of stars that could have injured Baker, including referee Aubrey Edwards.
They threatened all those with dire consequences and then ended the segment.
Grade A
Baker is really shining as a heel and this was a perfect segment. The Doctor has impressed since getting more time on AEW, and this was another example of what all she can do.
Hikaru Shida was in action after her gruelling No DQ win over Nyla Rose for the Women’s title.
Shida took on Christi Jaynes and was hit a number of times before picking up the win.
Shida beats Jaynes
Grade B
It was surprising how Jaynes got a few hits in on the champion, but that could be showing how much of an effect the Rose match took.
We got Cody Rhodes opening up about being TNT Champion and how he has worked hard for everything. The champion also said an open challenge was set for his title before we got a match between Kip Sabian and Jimmy Havoc taking on the SCU.
Havoc and Sabian picked up the win as they prepare to challenge Adam Page and Kenny Omega for the tag titles.
Havoc and Sabian beat SCU
Grade A
Rhodes on the microphone is a joy to watch and he sounded incredible even after speaking about the open challenge.
Sabian and Havoc did well in the match and they should provide tough competition for the champions.
A Battle Royal was set for the first TNT Championship challenger. Many stars were involved in this clash and it was Jungle Boy who got the surprise win.
It was Orange Cassidy and Jungle Boy fighting it out in the end, despite MJF and Wardlow being present too.
Jungle Boy wins
Grade B
The match was a crazy affair, as expected, but handing Jungle Boy the win is interesting. He might not be the biggest star but he can do a lot of great work, and deserves a shot at the gold.
The Inner Circle took over the ring after their loss at Double or Nothing. The stars pepped each other up while Chris Jericho challenged Mike Tyson.
The former boxing champion came out with two-division UFC Champion Henry Cejudo, and a massive brawl broke out.
Grade A
Another great segment from AEW as Tyson and Cejudo did their bit. It will be interesting to see if Tyson does face Jericho, and that could be another great clash.
