AEW Dynamite Results and Grades: AEW Full Gear was just a week or so away and Dynamite featured some of its best talents in an action-packed show.
Cody Rhodes was in action while so was the new NWA Women’s Champion, Serena Deeb too.
However, we start off with one of the AEW World title eliminators on this week’s Dynamite results and grades.
Adam Page took on Wardlow for a place in the finals and this was a bruising affair by the two big men.
Both had their big moves but it was Page that picked up the win in the end.
Page beats Wardlow
Grade B
Page’s rise continues ever since he split with Kenny Omega and it seems set he will face his former tag teammate in the final of the competition.
Eddie Kingston took on Matt Sydal before facing Jon Moxley for the World title at Full Gear.
Sydal tried his best but it was Kingston who got the high flyer in a submission and made him say “I quit”.
Kingston beats Sydal
Grade B
This was a warning to Moxley ahead of their clash but squashing Sydal wasn’t the best for the former WWE star.
Excalibur sat down with the AEW tag champions, FTR, and their rivals, The Young Bucks for an interview.
The Bucks claimed they were ready for FTR but the champs walked out. The Bucks then added that if they didn’t win the title at Full Gear, they would never challenge for the titles again.
Grade B
The stipulation at the end raises the stakes and it will be interesting to see how thing fight goes. Bucks vs FTR should be great, and this could be the match of the year.
Chris Jericho and MJF met again for a Town Hall meeting. A lot of the stars from AEW asked questions about MJF joining the Inner Circle and how the Circle felt about him.
Eric Bischoff also made a surprise return to NXT. MJF got upset when asked why he and Jericho might not kill each other and ranted he had done so much for Jericho.
Le Champion then threw a challenge down. If MJF beat him at Full Gear, he would join Inner Circle. As MJF was digesting this, Santana and Sammy Guevara challenge MJF and Wardlow for a match next week.
Grade A
It was a little surprising that the much-awaited match between the pair would take place before MJF joined the Inner Circle.
Nevertheless, this should be an awesome clash and it was fun to see Bischoff back.
Cody Rhodes, the TNT Champion, and Orange Cassidy battle for the title in a Lumberjack match next.
Cassidy put on a great show as the Lumberjacks also came into play once a star was out of the ring.
In the end, it was Cody who got the win after some help from Arn Anderson.
Cody beats Cassidy
Grade B
This wasn’t the best outing for Cassidy as he wasn’t able to show what all he can do.
Darby Allin watching the match from far was a good move, but this match could have been a lot more better.
Deeb in action
Fresh after winning the NWA title from Thunder Rosa, Serena Deeb took on Leyla Hirsch.
Hirsch got a few good hits in but it was the new champion that picked up the win and kept her title.
Deeb beats Hirsch
Grade C
This was a quick match to get Deeb over and the team also confirmed that AEW champion, Hikaru Shida, was ready to face Nyla Rose at Full Gear.
That seems to have been the most important part of the match, which is unfortunate, given how good Deeb is.
VSK took on Shawn Spears as the former WWE star was back in the ring.
Spears defeated VSK easily but then pulled someone out into the ring.
That was a costumed performer, who turned out to be Scorpio Sky as he attacked Spears.
Spears beats VSK
Grade C
Spears vs Sky seems set to happen but they didn’t need to put on a squash show. However, Spears got the win and kept his momentum going.
Penta replaced his injured teammate Fenix as he took on the now cocky and heelish Kenny Omega.
Omega even taunted Fenix outside the ring and that fired up Penta. However, it was Omega, nursing an injured shoulder, who got the win via the Winged Angel.
Omega beats Penta
Grade A
Omega coming down to the fight was a sight to behold and the former tag champ is revelling in his new character.
The match was excellent too and seeing him take on Page at Full Gear should be brilliant.
