AEW Dynamite results, grades and winners: CM Punk was back to open up on his AEW debut

The first AEW Dynamite of the CM Punk era was upon us as the Best in the World was going to make his presence felt on the flagship AEW show.

However, AEW had announced several matches leading up to the show and we start off this AEW Dynamite results, grades and winners piece with Orange Cassidy in action.

CM Punk is now All Elite (AEW)

Orange Cassidy vs Matt Hardy

Matt Hardy and Orange Cassidy clashed in the opening match of Dynamite and after a lot of to and fro it was Freshly Squeezed who got the win via a roll-up.

Chris Jericho to retire from AEW?

Chris Jericho was back in the ring after his loss to MJF and claimed he would quit wrestling on AEW and go to commentary full-time if he couldn’t beat the heel at All Out.

MJF accepted the offer and cut a promo.

Tag team eliminator tournament clash

The Varsity Blonds and the Lucha Bros clashed in the next match on AEW. The Lucha Bros got the win in the end and avoided an attack from The Young Bucks and the Good Brothers.

Red Velvet continues rivalry with Britt Baker

Red Velvet had another tough clash on her hands as she took on Jamie Hayter. Britt Baker and Rebel were there to distract Velvet and that allowed Hayter to get the win.

Kris Statlander then came out as the heels ran away.

CM Punk on Dynamite

Punk spoke about wanting to wrestle stars such as Jungle Boy, Rey Fenix and Brian Pillman Jr. He decided to retire the Voice of the Voiceless name since AEW was listening to the fans and YES chants filled the arena.

Punk said that was someone else’s gimmick and alluded that fans had to wait a bit before Daniel Bryan would feature on the show.

Six-man clash

Sting was in the corner for the team of Eddie Kingston, Darby Allin and Jon Moxley as they faced JD Drake, Cezar Bononi and Ryan Nemeth with Peter Avalon on their side.

In the end, it was the faces who got the win but Daniel Garcia attacked Allin after the clash.

Kenny Omega and Christian clash

AEW champion Kenny Omega was accompanied to the ring by Don Callis and his posse before Impact champion Christian Cage also came out.

Christian was then being beat up before Frankie Kazarian made the save.

A rivalry grows

QT Marshall led out Aaron Solow and Nick Comoroto against Billy Colton and Austin Gunn. Paul Wight provided a distraction at the commentary station to help the Gunn Club win.

Malakai Black in action

The final match of the evening was Malakai Black taking on Brock Anderson. Black picked up a quick win and Arn Anderson, the father of Brock, stood in the way of a chair steel attack.

Black did end up attacking Anderson Sr before Lee Johnson came out to make the save.
