AEW Dynamite results, winners, grades, highlights and reaction: After WWE, AEW also confirmed that there would be no fans on this week’s episode.
Not only that AEW also confirmed the relocation of several shows as the coronavirus pandemic affected the show.
However, most of their stars promised to put on a great show and some of the segments certainly were interesting.
Cody Rhodes opened the show with no crowd and a spotlight on him. The American Nightmare spoke about the current situation and wanted the Elite to be “The Elite” ahead of Blood & Guts against the Inner Circle.
Matt Jackson and Kenny Omega came out in support of Cody as he wanted them to be on the right page.
Speaking of which, Adam Page also came out and confirmed he would be with them by raising a glass of beer.
Grade A
Rhodes did a stellar job of not only selling the situation but highlighting the real fear that there might not be a show next week.
The other three also put up the same message and claimed if it was to be the last their appearance for while, they would go out with a bang.
AEW actually allowed some of their stars to sit by ring side and cheer on the wrestlers, unlike WWE.
Shawn Spears, MJF, Kazarian, Colt Cabana, Christopher Daniels, Lace Archer and a host of others sat around to give the match at least some atmosphere.
Orange Cassidy was on the commentator’s desk but sat with the headphones on and said nothing.
The Lucha Bros and Best Friends actually traded blows a lot and even Cassidy got involved in the match.
However, it was the Lucha Bros that picked up the win. Best Friends then challenged the Lucha Bros to a street fight next week, and it will be interesting to see if that happens next.
Lucha Bros beat Best Friends
Grade B
This was a fun match to start AEW with and there were some great highlights in the clash too.
Having some wrestlers in the seats also helped in bringing in some atmosphere, and there were some great reactions too.
The Death Triangle looks great as a team and a street fight against Best Friends and Cassidy could be another great match.
Kris Statlander, Riho, Penelope Ford and Hikaru Shida took part in a Fatal 4-way match. Ford was accompanied by Kip Sabian and this was a great match with all four women having a shot at winning.
However, it was Shida that picked up the win, ahead of an impressive Ford and could possibly face Nyla Rose for a shot at the title.
Shida wins Fatal 4-way
Grade B
Another stellar match in an empty AEW arena as all four women put on a show.
There also was a great segment of Colt Cabana arguing with Sabian as he didn’t want Ford to be brought down by her boyfriend.
Sabian warned Cabana that he is a wrestler too, and the two could face off in the future.
This was another big match spoken about during the AEW Dynamite preview as Jurassic Express took on The Butcher and The Blade.
It was the heels of Butcher and Blade that targeted Jungleboy early on. However, Jungleboy was able to tag in Luchasaurus and things changed drastically.
MJF tried to hand some instructions to the heels but that only distracted them with Luchasaurus picking up the win.
Luchasaurus and Jungleboy beat The Butcher and The Blade
Grade B
Having MJF cause a distraction from ringside was great as AEW actually used the lack of fans to their advantage at times.
The match was decent but didn’t really do anything to heat up the rivalry between the pair.
The Dark Order came out to share that the Exalted One was here after weeks of teasing.
However, Christopher Daniels took the mike away from Evil Uno and claimed there was no such thing as “The Exalted One”.
However, a video was played out of a bearded man as Luke Harper (formerly of WWE and now known as Brodie Lee) spoke.
He then made an appearance on stage and destroyed Daniels before joining the Dark Order.
Grade B
It was a surprise that AEW chose Lee over Matt Hardy as a member of the Dark Order. Hardy is also a free agent and should make an appearance soon, however, it will be interesting to see how AEW uses Lee.
The main event saw Rhodes, Jackson and Page take on Santana, Ortiz and Jake Hager.
This was a fun match again as the likes of Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara did their bit outside the ring.
Jericho was on commentary duty as the match went back and forth for a long time. The match was won by the Inner Circle but the events after that got everyone talking.
Inner Circle beats The Elite
Grade A
The match might have stretched a bit too long but there were some great spots. However, the talking point came right at the end as Matt Hardy made an appearance and teamed up with The Elite ahead of Blood & Guts.
Nick Jackson is unavailable for the big show next week, and Hardy seems set to fill that hole, as revealed by Matt.
