AEW Grand Slam 2021: results, winners and highlights: Did Bryan Danielson win his debut match at AEW?

The AEW Grand Slam Dynamite promised to be a spectacle to watch. This event was considered by many the most historic AEW event in history. With matches featuring Bryan Danielson and the AEW Women’s Championship match.

As the company made it’s debut in New York City at the Arthur Ashe Stadium here are the AEW Grand Slam 22 Sep 2021 results, winners and highlights.

AEW Grand Slam (AEW)

Bryan Danielson vs Kenny Omega

Bryan Danielson’s debut match against Kenny Omega kicked off the AEW Grand Slam. Both were fighting toe to toe. A hard fought match was eventually stopped after the 30 minute time limit was exceeded.

Even after the time limit had gone over Danielson and Omega continued to fight. The Young Bucks and Adam Cole run out and hit him with a triple superkick. Jurassic Express and Christian Cage then come out to help Danielson.

Match ends in a Time Limit Draw

MJF vs Brian Pillman Jr.

Just as the match was about to start, MJF offers a respectful handshake but Pillman was having none of it and started beating MJF up. The match was fairly dominated by MJF but Pillman had his moments too.

As Pillman was going for Air Pillman, MJF caught him mid air and put Pillman in the Salt of the earth submission to win the match.

Cody Rhodes was joined by Arn Anderson and Brandi Rhodes on his way to the ring. Rhodes was slowly getting the control over the match but accidently hit the referee. Seeing this opportunity Black spit something in Rhodes’ eye and rolled him up to will by pinfall.

FTR vs Sting and Darby Allin

Sting and Allin looked in complete control over the match. The crowd looked to favor Sting as he started the match. Sting put Dax in the Scorpion Death Lock submission. His teammate Cash tried to help Dax by pulling him towards the ropes. Allin then hit the Coffin Drop on Cash and Dax eventually tapped out to give Sting and Allin the win.

Britt Baker vs Ruby Soho

The main event of the AEW Grand Slam was the Women’s World Championship match between Britt Baker and Ruby Soho. The match was fought evenly before Baker was helped by the distraction from Rebel and Jamie Hayter to lock Soho with a Lockjaw. Soho later tapped out to give the win to Baker.

This was the end of the AEW Grand Slam Dynamite. The second part of the mega event, AEW Grand Slam Rampage takes place on September 24th.
