Abadon and Hikaru Shida squared off in an epic encounter this week
The undead Abadon was at her gory best against Hikaru Shida on the 6th January episode of AEW Dynamite, which was night one of the New Year’s Smash special.
It was good to see Shida turn up to the fight to begin with. Abadon bit a chunk out of Shida’s neck a few weeks back, which left everyone wondering if her match with Abadon would go ahead.
Shida was more than ready, and took a cheap shot at Abadon’s head with a cane. Abadon sat up like a zombie and was ready to go on.
A hair-raising moment came when the Undead Girl took the AEW Women’s World Champion under the ring. She crawled out with blood running through her mouth with no signs of Shida.
The Japanese, however, was in a defiant mood. She also fended off Abadon when the latter wanted to take a bit at Shida’s thigh.
Abadon vs. Hikaru Shida is not over, at least for now
Shida came through the weird episodes with Abadon to connect her sliding knee finisher and get the win. The AEW women’s champion came away victorious, but that was not all.
Abadon took to her Twitter account to say that this was not over. Many thought that this fight at the New Year’s Smash might be the end of the road for their long-running rivalry.
However, it seems as if there will be at least one match between the two before the promotion decides to diverge their storylines away from each other.
While Abadon captured the imagination of the fans and grabbed their attention in the beginning, many feel that it’s now getting repetitive and too gross for comfort.
