Tony Ferguson put up a great show but lost to Justin Gaethje at UFC 249

AEW star Frankie Kazarian also shared his thoughts regarding UFC 249’s main event between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje.

This was for the interim UFC Lightweight title and it was a surprise as Gaethje who came out on top. The American landed some heavy blows on Ferguson during the final two rounds, but his opponent just did not go down.

Ferguson’s face was swollen from the hits while Gaethje also kicked him multiple times. Kazarian posted about the brutal hits that Gaethje received and compared him to Wolverine of the X-Men.

While he didn’t name the superhero director, Wolverine is one of the comic book heroes who has an adamantium skeleton.

Originally, Wolverine had an accelerated healing factor, great sense of smell and tracking ability. He also had bones that would jut out of his hands and form claws, but these bones were later replaced by adamantium, a fictional element in the Marvel universe.

Kazarian might have been joking with his comments, but Ferguson took in an obscene amount of punishment in this clash.

What next for Gaethje?

The American will be up against Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov next. The Russian is stuck in his home country due to the coronavirus and he was to fight Ferguson at UFC 249.

However, the unification clash will now take place between Khabib and Gaethje.

Gaethje and Khabib also spoke out after UFC 249 and this should be one of the biggest fights of the year.

Khabib will not return before September due to Ramadan. Hopefully, the coronavirus subsides by that time and we get to see the two Lightweight stars in the Octagon.
