Andrade reveals future plans after WWE release; drops AEW hint
Andrade has revealed that he would be open to joining rival promotion AEW after being released by WWE earlier this month.
El Idolo was granted a release from VInce McMahon’s pro-wrestling company after he made a request to be let go. Andrade’s last televised match came back in October 2020, following which he was not seen on the screen all that much.
The release of his on-screen manager Zelina Vega in November only served to further his lack of direction on WWE. And, having grown frustrated with not being used, the Luchador asked for a release earlier this month. And while WWE had declined it at first, they did let him go, that too without the standard 90-day non-compete clause.
Now, that he is a free agent, Andrade has plenty of options to choose from as he looks to get his pro-wrestling career back on track.
Andrade open to AEW stint; would work ROH, NJPW as well
And opening up on all the avenues that he has in front of him, Andrade, speaking to Harry Ruiz hinted that he would be open to joining WWE’s rival promotion AEW. The former El Sombra also hinted at a return to NJPW while he also insisted that he would be more than happy to work with ROH.
The switch from WWE to AEW has become a route that many wrestlers have taken of late. Miro (formerly Rusev of WWE), Paul Wight (formerly Big Show of WWE) are among some of the biggest names to have traded brands in recent times.
And, following his release, Andrade would be more than happy to follow in their footsteps, judging by his comments. However, recently, he also appeared to challenge Major League Wrestling’s (MLW) Tag Team champion LA Park as well.
So, it remains to be seen where Andrade ends up now that he is free from WWE.
