Bryan Danielson is a legend of Ring of Honor
The American Dragon played a significant role in establishing Ring of Honor as one of the best wrestling platforms. He has also been acknowledged as the “Founding Father” of the company.
On February 23, 2002, Bryan made his debut in the company’s leading event in a three-way contest against Christopher Daniels and Low Ki which Low Ki won. After that, he had one of the most memorable rivalries against Homicide and fought numerous matches together.
Danielson defeated James Gibson for the ROH World Championship at Glory Honor IV on September 15, 2005. That cemented his status as the best wrestler in the company when he held onto the reign as a champion for 462 days which is the third-longest, and he made a record 38 successful title defences.
The American Dragon made history in 2006 when he defeated arch-rival and ROH Pure Champion Nigel McGuinness in Liverpool to merge the titles. He is also a winner of the Survival of the Fittest and main evented ROH’s first pay-per-view in 2007.
He gave ROH one of the most memorable performances, one of them being against then ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima in 2007, where he suffered a detached retina just over four minutes into the match, Morishima targeted Danielson’s injured left eye throughout the game. Still, Danielson showed incredible toughness and went on for more than 20 dramatic minutes.
