Mike Tyson ‘invaded’ AEW recently and sparred with Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho was on the Busted Open podcast as he spoke about his Jericho cruise and plans for the future.
The former AEW World Champion also highlighted how great the Stadium Stampede match was at Double or Nothing, but was asked about another former champion.
Mike Tyson made his presence felt at Double or Nothing as he interfered in the TNT Championship match. Iron Mike was on Dynamite too and his posse of former UFC fighters invaded a segment by the Elite.
Tyson and Jericho got into a shoving match, and Le Champion was asked if a match against Iron Mike was possible.
Jericho was open to that but joked about it being above his pay-grade:
“I mean, I think it is. This is kind of above my pay-grade.”
Bully Ray, who was co-hosting the podcast, interjected by saying that no one could get above Jericho’s pay at AEW.
Jericho also took a shot at the former UFC stars who had accompanied Tyson to the ring. Le Champion, however, admitted that having Tyson on AEW leads to a different vibe, and he was keen on taking on the former boxing champion in any way, shape or form:
“You can’t duplicate the vibe and intensity that Iron Mike Tyson has. I don’t care if he is 23 or 83, when he is in shape and motivated, he looks great, he looks crazy, his people are crazy, so we will see.”
Tyson came out with Vitor Belfort, Henry Cejudo and some other former MMA stars. Tyson has experience with the WWE too, but hasn’t been involved in a proper wrestling match.
It will be interesting to see how AEW deals with the invasion from Tyson. Jericho was correct in suggesting that Tyson brought a huge pop for AEW, and the former boxing champion is in the best shape for a long time.
A wrestling match against Jericho might not be the answer, but after the Stadium Stampede madness, we could see something similar with the AEW creative doing their work.
