CM Punk was a little coy when he was asked about his AEW contract
It finally happened. CM Punk is now All Elite and got one of the biggest pops possible in the world of wrestling.
This was one of the worst kept secrets in wrestling but the fans could not get enough of the former WWE star.
Punk made his AEW bow nearly seven years since his last WWE appearance and he has his eyes set on Darby Allin.
However, one big question doing the rounds is how long is Punk’s contract? A part-time deal could have been in the offering given that Punk had been away for a while and would be keen to test the AEW waters.
Punk was asked about this during the media scrum after Dynamite, and while he was coy about the duration, he added that this was not a part-time gig (h/t Wrestling Inc):
“I don’t really know if you want to know how the sausage is made. I think one of the biggest appeals of AEW is everybody here looks like they show up to have a good time. You don’t want to know the details of my contract,” Punk said. “Just know that I’m here. It’s not a part time thing, and I’m here to have fun and to help, if anybody wants help.”
Tony Khan also added that this was a full-time contract for Punk and was excited for the future of Punk and AEW.
CM Punk allowed to do all he wants
Punk also lauded AEW for allowing him to continue with his other projects including MMA commentary. The Best in the World added that AEW has a deep enough roster to deal with an absence from the top guys and credited Khan for allowing all this.
“I don’t have to be on every show, the way now Omega and the Bucks aren’t on every show,” Punk said. “The talent roster is so deep. Give people time off if their wife’s having a baby. To me, that’s a novel concept that should be embraced. Really, credit to this guy (motions to Tony Khan) for allowing stuff like that to happen.”
Punk is scheduled to feature on Dynamite next and it will be interesting to see what else he has to say.
