CM Punk has been very influential in shaping up the professional wrestling career of Adam Cole
Former WWE NXT Superstar Adam Cole made his AEW debut a month ago, on the 5th of September at All Out PPV.
He joined hands with Kenny Omega – his former teammate during their time at New Japan Pro Wrestling.
His joining also gave him a chance to work alongside his girlfriend and AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker.
In a recent exclusive interview with Bleacher Report, Cole revealed the stars he would like to wrestle.
Cole named youngins Darby Allin and MJF before going on to name Bryan Danielson as the seasoned veteran he would like to face.
He also noted that he had wrestled Danielson once in a singles match, back during his time in the WWE.
Cole was quoted as saying:
“As far as the young guys go. Darby Allin is one. I’d really like to get in there with MJF. He is incredibly talented, I’d love the chance to work with him someday. I do want to step in there with Bryan [Danielson] again. I’ve only wrestled Bryan in a singles match one time, and it was that last-minute SmackDown event, which is super memorable for me. So I’d love the chance to wrestle him again in AEW.” [via Bleacher Report]
Adam Cole, then went on to state that CM Punk was the wrestler at the top of the list of the stars he would like to face.
He explained how much of an influence Punk has had in his career.
Here is what Cole had to say about Punk:
“CM Punk is at the top of my list. I’ve been very open and honest about how much he influenced me in my career. He’s a guy who introduced me to Ring of Honor and independent wrestling as a whole. He was the guy who made me realize I really want to focus on promos. I never thought I’d get the chance to step into the ring with him.” [via Bleacher Report]
