CM Punk blames former WWE star for getting him back to wrestling

CM Punk finally made his long awaited AEW debut and blamed Renee Paquette for getting him bitten by the wrestling bug

Chicago was home to AEW Rampage and well, possibly, the biggest debut in the history of the promotion.

CM Punk made his debut to a raucous crowd thanks to his patented music.

There was a lot to come from Punk as he spoke his heart out. He even got free ice cream bars handed out to the fans and ended up challenging one of the rising stars in the promotion, Darby Allin.

Punk was away from wrestling for seven years and had given up on the business. However, in the media scrum after Rampage, he blamed one former WWE star for getting him back in the ring.

Punk claimed that it was Renee Paquette that did all this. Paquette, during her time with WWE, was the host of Backstage, a show on Fox. Punk was signed to appear on the short-lived show for a while but that didn’t work out for all parties.

The show folded, Paquette left WWE shortly after while Punk didn’t actually signed with WWE and was on the rolls of Fox.

Sean Ross Sapp was tweeted the details of the media scrum and shared this bit from Punk:

CM Punk only told a few people about his return

More details were shared by Punk and Tony Khan during the media scrum. One was that Punk had only shared news of his return to his wife, AJ Lee, and a few others. However, his AEW debut was one of the worst kept secrets in the world.

Punk also shared some aspects of why he respected AEW, especially after the Brodie Lee incident.

Punk to AEW will go down as one of the biggest wrestling moments in recent memory. However, AEW still has some work to do and it will be interesting to see what happens on Dynamite where Punk is set to appear again.
