Cody Rhodes successfully defended his AEW TNT title at Fyter Fest but had some classy words for Jerry Lynn
AEW star Cody Rhodes has worked hard to set up the brand and battle WWE in the Wednesday Night Wars.
NXT has been incredible over the years but they have been fighting against AEW Dynamite for a few months.
This was more than evident as Fyter Fest and The Great American Bash went head to head on Wednesday. Cody was in action on the first day of Fyter Fest as he defended his AEW TNT title against Jake Hager.
The American Nightmare came out on top in this brutal clash. However, he had some words of praise for several of the AEW backroom staff.
Arn Anderson is one such person that Cody thanked but the other was Jerry Lynn. Lynn is one of the most experienced wrestlers in the history of the business.
Cody alluded that this was one of Lynn’s first projects on AEW, and shared his thoughts too:
“Yesterday was my first time working w/@itsjerrylynn on a project. It’s beyond special to have knowledge like his and folks like AA around to push the roster in the way they have and surely will continue to.”

The first day of Fyter Fest was a hit, and it will be interesting to see how the second day goes. Jon Moxley isn’t expected to defend his AEW title as he is in quarantine but it should still be an amazing night.
Cody looking for people to step-up
The American Nightmare was also on the Busted Open podcast recently and spoke about the rising talents on AEW.
Cody claimed that Wardlow is one to keep an eye on while praised Jungle Boy for his match in the open challenge.
However, he also expected all his stars to step up as this was the second year of AEW. The promotion has signed several top talents from WWE since its star but they have some quality wrestlers from the indies too.
Cody has handed chances to several rising stars in his open challenge, and it will be interesting to see who is next.
