Cody Rhodes faces Lance Archer for a big title

AEW superstar Cody Rhodes took to Twitter and reacted to the betting odds ahead of his title match against Lance Archer.

However, Cody is the underdog for this fight against the new star.

Last week, the “Murderhawk” Lance Archer, laid waste to Rhodes’ close friend QT Marshall.

The previous week it had been Cody’s brother, Dustin, on the wrong end of Archer’s formidable combination of size, intensity and athleticism.

Cody defeated Darby Allin in one semi-final match to advance. The ending of the match saw Cody attempt a Coffin Drop of his own on Allin, but Allin reversed and tried one of his own. However, Cody rolled over to pin the shoulders of Allin.

Cody’s brother Dustin Rhodes was also in semi-final action later in the show, taking on the unbeaten Lance Archer. Archer defeated Dustin to earn his shot at the TNT title, leaving Dustin bloody and beaten but refusing to give up.

Cody and Archer will meet at Double or Nothing on May 23, originally scheduled for the MGM Grand Garden Arena, due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic it’s now taking place at an undisclosed location.

Allin falls short again

Although it’s not a bitter rivalry, the long-standing story between Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin is one of the most captivating plotlines in AEW right now.

It all started at Fyter Fest when Allin established himself as THE upstart in the company’s Men’s Division, taking the former ROH World Champion to a literal limit in a time limit match. Allin won the respect of both Cody and the fans of the new promotion.

Darby Allin is one of the best talents on AEW’s roster (AEW)

He took that momentum into AEW Dynamite, skating into the ring and taking more hellacious bumps on television. Allin was quickly tabbed by many fans as the most likely future star among the wrestlers AEW will one day call “homegrown” talent.

But Allin couldn’t defeat Cody the second time the two faced each other on New Year’s Day, as Cody’s new manager, Arn Anderson, dialled up just the right advice for his new protege.
