Bryan reportedly decided to join AEW because he thought it will be good for the wrestling industry. Under his current AEW contract Bryan will be allowed to compete at New Japan Pro Wrestling as well.

WWE was also open to allow him for the same if he resigned but he wanted to pave the path for other wrestlers as well and not just him.

If we talk about money, although exact figures haven’t been revealed but it is reported that WWE had also offered more or less the same amount of money as AEW. So you can certainly say that his decision wasn’t based on money but under the idea of trying new adventures.

Was it difficult for Daniel Bryan to leave WWE?

It was definitely more difficult for Bryan to leave the WWE than it seems. Bryan was with the company for 11 long years and had some very close relationships there. He still has a lot of close contacts with the company. Amongst many being his wife and Brie Bella.

Bryan is also a big fan of Vince McMahon and they’ve had a good relationship as well over the years.

When his AEW contract expires he can still choose to join WWE in 2025 but he will be 44 at that time and it cannot be said certainly that he will continue wrestling after that.
