Darby Allin Doesn’t want to be like CM Punk
CM Punk returned to professional wrestling after a long time, and he faces AEW star Darby Allin, who are called by the fans as this generation’s CM Punk.
Allin was asked during the AEW’s Fan Fest panel (h/t ringsidenews) about being compared with CM Punk, to which “The Roof of Doom” replied that he wants to be himself and not another CM Punk.
But at the same time, he mentioned drawing inspiration from “The best in the World”.
“Absolutely, but to be honest, I don’t want to be this generation’s CM Punk. I wanna be Darby Allin. I don’t really care and I draw a lot of inspiration from CM Punk and I know CM Punk said that when he was younger I would have been his favorite wrestler, but when I was 15 years old Punk was my favorite wrestler. Burning bridges, he doesn’t care what people think. I don’t like ass-kissers so someone like him I really looked up to, but it doesn’t mean I wanna be him.”
The AEW All Out will go underway on 5 September, and it will see the return of Punk’s first match in seven years.
CM Punk will face Darby Allin in the AEW All Out main event.
Fans are pumped to see the Saviour City’s return to the squared ring and are hoping to get some good action, and since Allin’s wrestling style is a bit similar to Punk’s, it will be great to see that who comes out on top.
