David Penzer discusses the relationship betwwen AEW and IMPACT

IMPACT ring announcer David Penzer spoke about the relationship between AEW and IMPACT after their partnership deal in December.

Fans were vocal about the dissatisfaction about the exposure of star Kenny Omega on both promotions, despite the partnership. But, Penzer believes that this is a calculated risk and done in interest of both parties.

The partnership has seen its twists and turns in the last 6 months

David Penzer, the host of Sitting Ringside spoke to Nick Hausman on “The Wrestling Inc”, where they spoke about the AEW – Impact Relationship. Penzer said:

“We’re not on TNT in prime time. We’re not! We don’t have Sting and JR and Tony Schiavone and Dustin and Cody and the Young Bucks and Miro. Those are just a few. They have all this young talent, those are just the established ones. We’re in a different place. I lay that all out because people say it’s not a fair trade, but in my opinion it doesn’t have to be.”

Kenny Omega is now a Triple Champion with IMPACT, AEW and AAA Lucha Libre

Penzer goes on to say that the partnership is benefitting IMPACT significantly ever since it began. He continues to talk about Kenny Omega fighting in the Impact:

“He’s on our show every week. How could that be a bad thing? It could only be a good thing. This could only help. It may not be an equal partnership in our guys getting featured, their guys getting featured, our name being mentioned, their name being mentioned. It doesn’t have to be. Kenny Omega’s our world champion! I’ll leave it at that. Anybody that doesn’t see the value in that, I respect your opinion, but I respectfully disagree.”

“Kenny Omega, one of the top, most popular, most famous, most well-known wrestlers worldwide, maybe the greatest talent going right now in wrestling, is our world champion!” Penzer said.

AEW and IMPACT : A Working Partnership ?

The two promotions are in a partnership deal since December to compete with WWE. The two are the leading rivals and arguably their biggest competitors. It will be interesting to see how this works out in the long term.

WWE is leading the rival promotions by a big margin

Currently, IMPACT has a massive growth and viewership after the arrival of Kenny Omega. With AEW boasting the bigger stars, it is certain that IMPACT is going to stay in the shadow of Tony Khan’s new promotion.
