Domino’s Pizza may be cuttting ties with AEW after bloody match on Dynamite
Domino’s Pizza did not seem too impressed as an advertisement ran during a bloody match between Chris Jericho and Nick Gage on AEW on Wednesday night.
Jericho faced Gage in a No Disqualification match involving baseball bats, panes of glass, fluorescent light tubes, and more dangerous items. The match was part of “The Five Labours of Jericho” where Jericho was challenged to get a chance to face MJF.
Domino’s responded to the use of a pizza cutter in the match with blood spewing from Jericho’s face. The statement read: (h/t Variety)
“Domino’s was not involved, nor had any foreknowledge, of the gory scene on the ‘AEW: Dynamite’ main event Wednesday night that showed wrestler Nick Gage apparently slicing Chris Jericho’s head open with a pizza cutter.”
“We share the concerns expressed about this incident and the content of this TV-14 rated program, and are assessing our advertising presence on it going forward.”
The use of the pizza cutter would be particularly scary for the audiences below 18. The promotion has taken the event to extreme levels, but the display of an ad to prevent the viewing seemed disrespectful.
The ties between the two parties could be nearly over, as top staff officials have not taken too well to AEW’s wrongdoing.
Jericho is in a tough position if he wants to successfully accomplish the task set out by MJF. Jericho beat Gage in the main event of AEW’s annual “Fight for the Fallen” event. He beat Shawn Spears, a member of The Pinnacle. Spears was able to use a steel chair as a weapon during the match, but Jericho was still able to get the win.
After his match with Gage, MJF announced that Jericho will face his old rival Juventud Guerrera with a unique stipulation. Jericho must win with a top rope maneuver to move on to the fourth labour, one prior to facing MJF finally.
