This week on AEW Dynamite, MJF just stole the show as he was equally good in his segments with Punk and Wardlow
MJF brutally attacked CM Punk this week on AEW Dynamite with the help of The Pinnacle member Shawn Spears. Friedman hit Punk with a low blow and then called for his mates. Shawn Spears came with a dog collar and used it to inflict damage on the already busted open CM Punk.
Interestingly, Wardlow watched on from a corner of the ring but didn’t get involved in the systematic mauling of Punk.
Wardlow was in a match with Cezar Bononi which the former won with ease. After the match, Shawn Spears would come into the ring with a steel chair in hand and attempted to strike at Bononi, who was lying on the mat helplessly. Wardlow would stop Spears in his stride and prevent him from hitting Bononi. This led to an uncomfortable stare-down.
Later on backstage, MJF told Wardlow that if he wins The Face of the Ladder Match, and goes on to win the TNT Championship, then he will let him keep the title.
Friedman was quick to add that Wardlow wasn’t going to win anyway. He said this with a smirk of arrogance. As he was leaving, Wardlow was quick to retort saying it’s because he has to always focus on how he can help MJF win. This made MJF furious as he turned around and slapped Wardlow. He reminded the big man that he works for him and not for AEW. MJF threatened to put Wardlow and his family out on the street.
Remember the Batista thumbs up, and then down to Triple H and Ric Flair moment when the trio were part of the popular faction – Evolution? This segment seems to be going in a similar direction.
This cold war between MJF and Wardlow has been brewing in recent weeks. The most notable instance was when Mr. Mayhem faced CM Punk. But this time, MJF has angered the big man to the limit, it seems. A face-turn for Wardlow is on the cards. Will he cost MJF his match against Punk? or will this tension boil to higher temperatures in the weeks to come before it explodes?
The fans are enjoying every bit of this saga and most of them are expecting Wardlow’s face-turn at the expense of MJF. Here’s what they are saying on Twitter:
