AEW star Shawn Spears got Bret Hart’s blessing to use the Sharpshooter
AEW star Shawn Spears has revealed that he got the go-ahead from WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart to use his famous finishing move, the Sharpshooter, which he debuted on Wednesday.
The Sharpshooter was the trademark finisher of Bret “The Hitman” Hart during his illustrious pro wrestling career. Many wrestlers over the years have used the finisher, or variations of it. The Rock, Edge, Sting, Natalya have all deployed the submission move in the past.
On Wednesday’s episode of AEW, Spears debuted the Sharpshooter finisher. In his bout against Baron Black, the Canadian wrestler hit his opponent with a C4 before making him tap out with the submission manoeuvre.
Chris Jericho, who was on commentary at the time, praised Spears for paying tribute the legendary Bret Hart.
Spears has now confirmed that he sought Hart’s permission and had received his blessings prior to using the finisher.
Spears has a history with WWE. The Canadian pro wrestler was associated with the promotion for a number of years under the ring name “Tye Dillinger”. However, he left the company in 2019. After a brief return to the Independent circuit, he joined hands with AEW.
Having now debuted the Sharpshooter, it looks like Spears will continue to use it moving forward having received the blessing of The Hitman.
