AEW Superstar Hikaru Shida returns to Japan after Injury on AEW Dynamite
On the most recent episode of Dynamite, Hikaru Shida took a horrible beating from AEW rival Serena Deeb where Shida’s knee got worked over by Serena.
The referee had to call for a match stoppage after Deeb placed Hikaru in a half crab. The storyline injury seems to keep Shida out of action for a while. Deeb started assaulting Shida even before the bell rang at Dynamite.
Shida took to Twitter and showed off her injury, which looked quite brutal from the offset.
AEW wants this Hikaru Shida injury to be serious
AEW is planning it as a severe injury. The angle is simple since Shida was planning to return to Japan sometime in February, but due to this, it seems like she will have her trip a little sooner than expected.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter mentioned that reason for the angle, Shida is taking some time off to go back to Japan. So this injury angle writes her off television for that period.
“After the Deeb injury angle on Dynamite, Shida has returned to Japan for a while.”
However, AEW has not disclosed any return date for Shida’s return to the United States, which means that AEW fans have to wait for her return.
But it can be said that she will likely be refocused and ready to try and recapture the AEW Women’s World Championship when she returns.
Shida has been brilliant in the AEW Women’s division and recently got her 50th win. She is the longest-reigning AEW Women’s Champion. Hope she makes her return soon and again captures the women’s championship.
